How to know if our spirituality is causing harm...

Hello Real One,

It’s Saturday night here in Portugal, and it seems the divine picked now as the moment to share this message I spent four hours writing and recording into the wee hours — this video. It felt urgent and important.

While writing this email, I was guided to peek at the IG comments, and wow — they really activated something within me. I felt seen, heard, and connected to my community in a way I haven’t in a long time. So much gratitude. Even though I’ve been pretty burnt out and repelled by social media these past few years, there’s no denying it still helps us find each other.

This video is actually the first unpolished, unedited one I’ve posted on YouTube in over a decade — and honestly, it felt so good. To just write, shoot it a few times, and post. No overthinking, no editing rabbit holes. I don’t know about you, but I am so over the polished, perfect, overproduced content. I’m in a give-it-to-me raw, real, and true season — or I can’t trust it, can’t feel it, and just don’t have time for it. Can you feel me?

There’s so much smoke and mirrors on social media and in the spiritual space right now. And after a year of deep decolonizing work — taking a hard, honest look at everything I’ve been taught, told, and then passed on to my students — it’s been a lot. Unpacking the patriarchal programming baked into Western spirituality is humbling work.

This process of unlearning, lifting the hood, and questioning it all — I know many of us real ones are right there together. Which is why this message (and video) feels so timely and important to share.

Even more so than my recent magical 10-day Bringers of the Rose pilgrimage across Mama Africa — which, honestly, was the most powerful one of my career. Cliff notes? I had an impromptu sunset wedding in the Sahara Desert. We rode camels to the altar — total dream.

I haven’t shared much about it on the ‘gram because I’ve been more private lately, but the most beautiful part was finally learning how to to lead within a circle instead of a pyramid — fully supported by five of my embodied apprentices from the Activate Your Priestess coven. Together we’ve been centering the sacred, diving into the rose mysteries, and working heart to heart with Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene along the Rose Line in Portugal and Morocco. But I digress…

After a decade in this work, I’m seeing how some of the spirituality and manifestation teachings I learned — and passed on — may have unintentionally caused harm.

As real ones and true leaders, it’s time we ask ourselves some honest questions:

• Could the manifesting techniques we learned be causing harm because they don’t apply to everyone?

• Could unconscious privilege lead us to spiritual bypass the lived reality of others — and even oppress them further?

• Could this “manifestation” jargon actually be untrue, because it’s built on systems that exclude?

• Could it be rooted in white supremacy — and causing more harm than we realize?

If your guides led you here and you’re beginning to ask these not-so-easy questions, I see you. It takes courage and humility — exactly what we need in leadership right now.

I’m right here beside you — unlearning, reimagining, and co-creating a new way to live, lead, and build the liberated world we all say we want. Peace, freedom, and liberation for all beings Free Palestine. Free Congo. Free Sudan. Free the Feminine and Free the United Slaves of America.
